I have had the gift for 15 years so I have sort of learned to live with it on a private basis, but telling someone new whom you'd like to be intimate with is usually an ordeal. In the US (I'm Swedish, but have lived here 5 years and plan to stay) herpes seems to be really scary and not to be talked about. The odd thing is that every other person has 'cold sores' on a regular basis, but that for some reason appears unrelated to herpes...? Cold sores sound better, I have to admit. I would like to meet a man who would be happy to have me in his life, given the obvious criteria of having fun together and getting along are mutually fulfilled. To share interests is nice, and I do like art, music, movies, dining out, etc like everyone else in New York/Manhattan but the personal connection will always be more important than to be able to discuss some obscure interest. Bonus if you have had at least one great relationship with a woman so you know how easy it will be to make me happy. I'm this weird combo of bohemian and conservative: I was into acting for a large fraction of my adult life and is now doing research in neuroscience. For years I agonized about how to combine these disparate occupations on my CV, it just looked totally weird. The conservative part is probably more practical in terms of what will make me feel safe and comfortable: ie that you know where you are going in your life professionally, that you get along OK with your family (folks/siblings), that you have friends that you like and that you are sweet, gentle, strong and emotionally stable.
